In 1985 Dr Chetty graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from Madras University, India, and Fellowship in General Practice, Australia. After graduation she returned to Fiji to take a position as a Medical Officer at Lautoka Hospital in Fiji.

Later moving from Fiji to New Zealand, Dr Chetty completed her Diploma in Obstetrics at Otago University, New Zealand. She has since worked in Australia and New Zealand, where her two children were born.

After migrating to Australia in 1992, Dr Chetty met the requirements of the Australian Medical Council and gained her fellowship in General Practice.

She was one of the first eight candidates to be selected to complete fellowship via a remote learning program while living and working in rural Australia. As well as running a private practice, she was appointed Medical Superintendent at Cloncurry Hospital.

During her three-year term at Cloncurry in outback Northern Queensland, Dr Chetty was awarded an Excellence Certificate in Women's Health for service to women in rural areas. This special presentation from the United Nations' Women's Day Committee during the International Year of Women recognises her commitment to her patients.

Now settled on the Gold Coast since 2003, Dr Chetty has worked in general practice, skin cancer and after-hours medical care at Carrara, Miami, Robina, Broadbeach, Palm Beach and Tweed Heads.

Her special interests include:

Recognising the importance of preventative medicine has inspired Dr Chetty to enter the field of early detection and prevention of cancer. Riverwalk Medical Centre at Robina offers women and children four specialised areas of medical care:

  • Cancer Checks, Screening and Prevention
  • Teenage Health & Emotional Wellbeing, and
  • Child Vaccinations

Every member of Dr Chetty's medical team treats patients with dignity and respect, so they feel comfortable with sensitive exams such as pap smears, breast exams, full skin checks and pregnancy care.
